So tiday to do errands and distract myeslf and my fears of tomorrow....First a quick lunch at my fave New Mexican Restaurant... Mi Corazon.... A superb soup chips and heme done Sallsa and hot black Coffee Terrif and chatting with the owner about his Aunt who is Tia's second Mom.... Then off to costco for some supplies and a prescription refilled... then home with my Car dog MaxaMillion...OK was brave .... then eating another bite more soup I got to eat this evening... then the fear sets in again took my BP medicine and later the 3rd BP medicine... then washed daumants old robe so Max and Poocho will have good warmies place to sleep..... Fears got worse and I got nice FB things from Mary and pokes from Glenda and Maria lovely people caring Maria is a photographer-Artist!! Then a half Lorapazam to sleep.... oh sure! Lynn and Mo are picking me up at 6AM to get to UCLA!!! for probably what will be one of the most telling dayg of my mere 82 years..."To Be on Not To Be, That is the Question"I know at my age , i don't deserve to take up space on the planet according to the politically correct gang.... BUT My mind is better tthan ever, my hands are too , The Music create is VERY different!!! And I am not ready to turn it over!!! I Love Life, my Friends My incredible Son and his Brittiant Sensitive wife I love my Dogs and my horse.... No not ready to say goodbye ....yet.... I hope the news the first oncologist is true.... that he wasn't a farce like my so called "Primary care Doc" Dr. Quacko!!! Who never examines female senior citizens because he says they don't want those exams... Well, then, Dr. Quacko, how bout a yearly reminder? As your patients we take our cues from you... you do not just stand there batting your eyes then leave without finding is something is wrong! And so I try to sleep tonight so I can function tomorrow .... I will try again.... feel the warmth of my little Piccolino afainst my calf and Tia comes over to lick my fingers whenever she senses I am fretting.... And I know my Great Patriot Friend McGuffee Cathe is somewhere in the night in Baltimore fretting for me, too, and I know Maurice and Lynn are trying to get some sleep, to make the considerable trip up here to take me .... I humbly ask for your prayers and you positive thoughts!! god Bless you ALL and dont put off your Breast exams and "Not Knowing is Way Worse than Knowing, get it ? BYW Men get this, too!!!

I really feel the grand trip up to SF with my great son Maurice and his super wife Lynn AND their Dogs did a Lot to drop the droops.... Mo is my "raisson d' Etre" Just incredible soul totally positive and inspiring!! We.ve through a lot of changes... My heart goes to you.... Such a great Treasure! xoxoxos Mom
Sunday the 2nd rare rainy day in the Foothills of LA.... It's a good day, just had Sbux Via and a TJ's ham-Yogurt Cheese sandwich on Kalamara Bread... no mayp no anything!!! W-o-w!!! What a great day to count my blessings, and give thanks for all my great things and prepare for the little "Bump on the road" as my good friend, flutist Paulie Davis calls it... Fantastic!!! Happy to be of this frame of mind..Lots of spirit-visits from my deceased[suicided] husbandDaumants and even a whole evening spent in the memoties and company of my late Great Concert Artist.... William Kapell....A Love like no other

New "Bump in the Road"
Last week I went to see my doc about a Breast lump!!! After diagnostic Mamagram, I had a n ultrasound, then the really invasive Biopsy.... This determined that I have Breast cancer.... My Son and daughter in Law took me on a very nice trip to SanFran and Napa Valley for Thanksgiving.... Dogs into the kennel... Superb Family and fun in Napa.... heavenly sleeping, but things were bothering me It seemed to me tthat There ought to be a Center devoted only to breast cancer.... Yes there is ... Revlon Breast Center .. When we got back I started calling dr Heaps my oncologist for my Hysterectomy...His office gave me the name of a doctor at UCLA's Revlon.... their staff made an appt with in a few days, so I go there at 8AM This Tuesday for a thorough exam with A woman Doctor, Dr. Chang....I have all my results and even a slice of my Left Breast!!! Yes, I'm scared, but it was my rider for Neeners who told me to go when I finally confided to her that I had a lump...
if
i have a lumpectomy,I will have to have Chemo and radiation the Ca will return, If they remove the whole Breast, My Precious Diseased Left Breast, I will probably only have to have radiation "for a good rsult

Grand session with my ChiroHealer, Dr. Simmons today! TMJ adjustment[ It's [jaw] about 90% better AND the Graston Tool treatment for Duperton's Syndrome, The bane of Hard practicing Concert Pianists [ 6 Hrs a day and over] Then to the Barn, chores, then home Dinner and more learning time, and fun reading the Handmacher Schleper Catalogue....Now some cheese and crackers!
and perhaps a splash of Pellegrino, with ICE that I got yesterday! !!! Max was a fun companion today!! Sit! Stay!!!

What a great day today!!! Call from Mo.... Concert at St Cyril's... Durfley Requiem.. Orch and Chorus led by that Great James Beck!!! Zip I was there with Max in tow to keep me company and stay in the car afterI found a great shady spot, de pottied and depeed him, fresh drinking water then on in to hear that great tearful Requiem! A tribute Concert for a much loved priest who had Died a while ago .... Great tribute.
Afterwards, i invited them for early dinner at my fave Italian Restaurant, "Farfalla" in Encino.... Really great food ! I had Zuppa di Pomadero, and a Cesare Salad... The Zuppa was awesome, the best I've ever had, AND really great Crusty Italian Bread with a little bown of the BEST Olive Oil with finely cut Garlic and a touch of Italian herbs1 "\Pelegrino with a twist of Lemon... The Zuppa had towsted Bread on the bottom of the soup bowl and was thoroughly sopped with the thick Tomato-y Zuppa!!! The waiters were really cool and a good time was had by all!Then off to rehersal for Mo, and off to the Barn for Max and me!!!
Hello to Jara and La Suenita... a toss of Grain Hay, and scrubbing of the water buckets, and a quick clean-up of the stalls then give the great Rodeo Horse KD her carefully measured supplements as per Anne's instructions.... She gets betterand better! [KD] under the watchful eyes of Anne, who is a brilliant horseWoman! Then on home, greetings for mt PitBulls who are incredible guards and on to an evening of hassling around with this stupid computer as I have ben blocked from my own emai;l!!! And the way back to it is a neverending loop that goes nowhere.... I really think I have been hacked? Oh, well TOMORROW is a nother adventure filled day! See Ya!!! Hang in there, to quote Myrna!

With profound apologies to my Band, and my Public, I am sorry for having to cancel my Series fro last Febuary 13th through the June 11 th concert!!
My profound personal tragedy made it impossible to really do my players justice.... The one concert we did play was ill attended, due to my really not being able to concentrate on getting the WORD out] and the cohesion in the group was non existent.... They tried, but that mind bending concentration was missing and I had to call the concert to a halt halfway through... And Yes, they were paid....
I have been treating myself well, and practicing WHAT and when at my discretion...If I feel like playing rachmaninov, I will, If it is Chopin, or Beethoven I will ... I am using the Great classical repertoire to retain and grow my tecnic.... Do I sound like Bill? No, but the hands are regaining their tecnic and Depth of thought ... I don't limit myself to Leschitezsky or the Brahms 51 OR the Chopin Etudes.... And I am giving myself the luxary of Rach for the first time in my life... It is essential that I be gentle with myself ... so I may recover totally in the shortest time possible, and draw my players or new ones close to once again perform my dreams and theirs!
I am even doing gardening walking my new old dogs and getting rid of a lot of things, clutter... but still not able to toss out his clothes... Can't get it through my head WHY he folded his underwear so meticulously before shooting himself! And he left hiis wedding Ring of 40 years on the Bathroomm counter!!! I don't think I will ever understand !!! My dogs are a source of Joy solace as is my great son Maurice and Daughter in Law, Lynn, AND my few but fabulous Friends both in person AND FB! Not to mention my Great Steinway that once belonged to Willie Kapell!!! A charming concert "B"...BTW, I don't wish this on anyone! I look forward to a continuing of my self healing, and look forward to many years of making music with the best possible Musicians.... Thank you for your Understanding! xoxoxos suezenne

Next Concert of Suezenne Fordham Chamber JazzLA "5th Stream Series"is Monday. November 7th 6:30 PM at the Donald Wright Auditorium,Pasadena Main Librsary, 285 East Walnut, 818 371 7735.... Free admission

JUST DISCOVERED THE STEINWAY MAURICE GAVE ME A FEW YEARS AGO is an "A3"6'4 3/4' Created in 1913!!!!
In perusing information about Steinways, my FAVORITE Piano manufacturer {US made in Astoria LI] last night, I remeasured my second piano.... Turns out it is NOT an "M" but a very rare "A3" and weighs in at 645 pounds.... Due to being made of solid Ebony. I am so proud of my Steinways, and thankful to my Son.
My other Steinway at one time belonged tomy Dear Friend, the great Concert Pianist William Kapell, and upon his untimely tragic death in a commercial airliner crash returning from a stopover in Hawaii after his exhausting tour in Australia... The airliner plowed into a mountainside near Half Moon Bay just a few miles from the San Fransisco Airport....
I wound up with his piano, rather one of his pianos... He had three in his Studio [actually his brownstone home he shared with Mama and Papa Kapell] on east 94th Street... Two were Concert "D"s 8'11" the third and mine is a Concert "B" 6'11"... with very Stiff action. And of course this is my preferred piano BECAUSE of the very stiff action... translating to more powerful hands. Also, as it turns out translating to Dupuytrens syndrome, a thickening of the tendons in the hands, due to extensive practice through the years... Though general MDs will encourage you to have surgery, you will be incapacitated for a year, and will NEVER play again because of the scar tissue in the palms in those tendons. It is treated be a Chirohealer who uses the Graston Tecnic,thus releasing the tangled tendons, rendering my hands very free and excellent tecnic wise. Thank you Dr. David Simmons of Arcadia...
And as you see... my Kapell piano has a excellent companion and almost the same size! I thank Maurice so much for this treasure.
And YES YES YES I practice Piano tecnic every day.. sometimes playing well into the late night. I rotate things.... one day are the Brahms 51 exerscises as chosen for me by my Great Master in NY Robert Goldsand.... He chose perhaps 45 of those 51.... Then I do all scales in DOUBLE Thirds.... the Liszt fingerings.
You see Mr Goldsand Studied with Moritz Rosenthal, who was a favored pupil of Franz Liszt! I am proud of studying with Goldsand, as I have an almost direct lineage to Liszt's approach to tecnic! The next Day, I delve into the Lechetizsky Method, and afterward, several Chopin Etudes,sometimes changing their keys and jazz repertoire and changes. The Third Day will be classical repertoire and things my group will use in concert, plus a return to intense scales in double thirds, and sixths.
From time to time I take a bit of time away from my Steinways...
My whole life has been devoted to music. I am truly blessed to have found what I really loved early in life! Hugs, I hope YOU are so blessed, too, and IN the ARTS! KissKiss

The upconing concert on Monday November 7th, will start at 6:30 and end at 9PM ... The early starting time is because the Donald Wright Auditorium 285 East Walnut, Pasadena, Ca. must close when the Historic Library closes at 9PM.

NEXT CONCERT: SUEZENNE FORDHAM CHAMBER JAZZ LA"5th Stream Series"
The next concert of the Suezenne Fordham Chamber Jazz LA"5th Stream" Series will happen on Monday November 7th, 2011 at the Donald Wright Auditorium, 285 East Walnut[ the Historin Pasadena Main Library Chamber Music Concert Hall'
Fordham has a quartet, She plays a Steinway "D" concert Grand; Nate Light plays Contrabass;Rochelle Coatney plays Latin and World Percussion, and Miles Senzaki plays Percussion and Drums.
The group is hip, elegant, knowing,arty, and the Music is highly thought out, yet totally improvised. Fifth stream is a combination-fusion of Jazz-Classical and Avant Garde, and is very virtuosic!
Fordham Studied Jazz in NY with Lennie Tristano,Milt Jackson, Gerry Mulligan, and classical Piano with Robert Goldsand, Ania Dorfman, Josef Raieff, Dorothea La Follette, Beveridge Webster, Rosinna Lhevine, composition with Hall Overton, MX Mitacek[ Spud Murphy's Equal Interval System
The venues are Historic, comfortable... and informal. Admission is complimentary. The concert starts at 6:30 and ends at 9PM following the hours at the Hall when we can present our Art.

Our opening gala was on October 3rd and we had an enthusiastic audience and the energy level of the Musicians was[as usual] really soaring. We also have a plethora of Tibetan percussion instruments... and we have a ball.... and so do our audiences!
Fordham has a quartet, She plays a Steinway "D" concert Grand; Nate Light plays Contrabass;Rochelle Coatney plays Latin and World Percussion, and Miles Senzaki plays Percussion and Drums.
The group is hip, elegant, knowing,arty, and the Music is highly thought out, yet totally improvised. Fifth stream is a combination-fusion of Jazz-Classical and Avant Garde, and is very virtuosic!
Fordham Studied Jazz in NY with Lennie Tristano,Milt Jackson, Gerry Mulligan, and classical Piano with Robert Goldsand, Ania Dorfman, Josef Raieff, Dorothea La Follette, Beveridge Webster, Rosinna Lhevine, composition with Hall Overton, MX Mitacek[ Spud Murphy's Equal Interval System
The venues are Historic, comfortable... and informal. Admission is complimentary. The concert starts at 6:30 and ends at 9PM following the hours at the Hall when we can present our Art.

Our opening gala was on October 3rd and we had an enthusiastic audience and the energy level of the Musicians was[as usual] really soaring. We also have a plethora of Tibetan percussion instruments... and we have a ball.... and so do our audiences!

The Suezenne Fordham Chamber Jazz:We just added the final concert for the 2010-2011 season for July 27th st 630PM at the Donald Wright Auditorium, 285 East Walnut inside the Pasadena Main Library, in itself is a gorgeous Historic Pasadena Building. The venue is Hip, Elegant and informal... Arts and Crafts Style. Admission is free , and the music emphazises virtuosity and lush improvisations.
We are in our 7th year of preaenting concerts to the Public and to carry on the tradition of the Suezenne Fordham Chamber Jazz Genre.[Fifth Stream] Look forward to seeing you!

SFCJLA's music is a fusion of Classical, Avant Garde and Bop, with Tibetan soul featuring Conventional Jazz instrumentation, and Tibetan Percussion. The entire ensemble plays Tibetan instruments. Our muses are Bill Evans, Messian, Bartok, played with uncanny intensity. The Ambience is hip, Arty, historic, and the music is played with fire and virtuosity. Achingly personal intensity, at once romantic yet music of the spheres.

Elegant, Hip Virtuosic Fourth Stream Jazz-Fusion-Classical-Avent Garde All are descriptive of these series!
The New Bassist is Nate Light, stunning bass virtuosu who is a most welcome addition to the group. And the new Drummer is a long time colleague of Nate's, Drummer Miles Senaki... I welcome good friend and Global Percussionist Rochelle Coatney ... who has been with SFCJLA for three seasons!
The upconing concert on July 27th, Wednesday will start at 6:30 and end at 9PM ... The early starting tome is because the Donald Wright Auditorium 285 East Walnut, Pasadena, Ca. must close when the Historic Library closes at 9PM.

We welcome our audiences and know you will have a wonderful experience with some of the elite musicians in LA.
I am very proud of my new musicians, Jake Jamieson, Drummer who gradated with honors UCLA a totally professional player and zbass icon Nate Light, whom I've invited to be my permanant Bassist. He is also exquisite playing with bow producing a cello-like sound! Heaven!
